Abaltion Attempt Two

Well three if you count the short notice, but I’ll let that pass. This time 2 nights at the Waterfront Hotel and Spa (well you’ve got to vary your surroudings, have you not). Reported to the Papworth at 7.30am on the 3rd and went through the same pre-checks as before. Suitably supplied with the now very fetching ‘paper pants’ and with canular in right arm (left proved less than forthcoming) again waited for the 8.30 kick off…..

It got to just before 9.00 and we were beginning to experience reservations but then the call came. With suitable sedation the whole procedure was over in 90 minutes and I was back on the day ward by 11.00. Little pain during the procedure itself (despite the whole catheter inside the heart situation) and with my confidence in my ability to handle sedation, and with only the drop in blood pressure to give any slight concern, it was looking very promising. It was therefore a tad disappointing personally that, during the steps to assess for discharge, I should feel the need to ‘projectile vomit’ copious amounts of sick all over most of my cubicle.

To cut a long story short, I then recovered well, still got discharged the same day and, apart from some bad chest pain and copious bruising in the groin area, I have been fine. Papworth staff were universally excellent – the ward staff, porters, lab technicians and consultant all a lesson in how it should be done and how you should be treated. And once gain, apologies for the projectile situation 🙂 Once again, special thanks to Mrs. No-Name for all the running round, driving and support, despite problems of her own.

Just got to now hope that the ablation has actually done the trick!
