Malta Break

The Tritons Fountain

Just back from a five day break in Malta with friends. I’m taking the kudos or this one because the weather, the hotel and Valletta itself were all excellent and the break proved a very fine pick me up for all involved. The flight from Southend was a suitably relaxing start, although the airport has fairly ambitious plans for expansion so it might not remain relaxed for that much longer…

Marsaxlokk

The hotel was great and room only so that we could have breakfast inside Valletta’s historic walls and it has to be said the city has changed over the years; not its architecture, which is as magnificent as ever, but its cuisine, which seems to have upped its game over the years. Excellent coffees and breakfast and very reasonable cost! The hotel room was roomy and well kept, the public areas were lovely and return trips to Mdina and the picturesque village of Marsaxlokk were great and little changed from our previous visits. And the couple who had seen little or nothing of the island before were suitably impressed. I won’t spoil the blog entry by commenting on our overnight hotel stay on returning to the UK, other than to say that after suitable shouting and numerous phone calls, it was satisfactorily resolved. Shortage of photos on this holiday – a combination of phone camera only and Mrs. No Name’s now well known predisposition for not appearing on camera in the public domain….
