Going out for lunch yesterday and decided that we’d make a return to Seckford Hall. I say this as though we had last visited a couple of weeks ago, not years ago. I conjecture that applies to most experiences after the last couple of ‘pandemic years’. Anyway, we deviated from the predetermined Hasketon Barn Cafe (which is lovely, by the way) and drove into the hall.
Lovely day, so decided to eat outside in the courtyard gardens. Ordered two wines, one large, one medium (guess which one the non driver had) and two sarnies from the appetising list and were reminded why we had said we’d return. Staff were lovely, food was good and the courtyard overlooking the gardens and lake is a perfect backdrop. So much so, we lingered a little longer and ordered desert! Peace and quiet and such a short hop from home. We did have a wander around the grounds afterwards, as if that acted as some small kind of penance. Photo is proof we did actually physically move around and it was also nice to revisit the golf course where I nearly took up golf again so many years ago…
