After saying we would probably never return, almost 12 months on, we did precisely that! Another meet up with the friends we met last year, back at the Centre Parcs at Elveden Forest for four nights last week. Not much to add to the entry about last year, other than to say that at least this year’s break was completed without major incident or illness to either party!
If you want a fuller overview of the park, facilities etc. you can read about it on the blog by going here. On this occasion, and hopefully in some semblance of order, we ‘participated‘ in the following:-
- Badminton, in which we relived old glories (remembered them anyway) and had a good old laugh along the way
- Short lawn indoor bowls, ludicrously difficult to the point of unplayable
- Soft ball tennis, in which I spent more time retrieving the ball than actually playing. Adjoining courts were kind to a man (and woman), indulging in their own fair share of cross court ‘pollination’!
- The round forest and lake walk, completed last time but repeated in all together more pleasing and comfortable circumstances.
- A massage for the ladies – the blokes undertook a beer or two by way of compensation
Two evenings in restaurants, both much as last time. Perfectly adequate, staff lovely but Centre Parc could do with branching out a little.
Friends had to depart early on Friday morning, so we checked out and then undertook the customary crazy golf challenge…..very close match (won by one) but Mrs. No Name says it was just a bit of fun 🙂
Enjoyed it (like last time), opinion remains as before. Got so much right, needs a few extra touches to elevate it a little. Having said that, looking at the upkeep, maintenance and housekeeping required, along with the standard of accommodation, it is remarkably good value for money.
