Enjoyed our first visit to the above. Couldn’t get full weekend tickets so went on the Friday night and the Sunday. Particularly looking forward to The Men They Couldn’t Hang who, sadly, proved to be the only real disappointment of the event.

Maverick Festival – 2nd July 2011
First time visitors to the Maverick Festival at Easton Farm Park – inexcusable really as it’s just a few miles up the road. Americana in Suffolk, great weather and lovely venue. And many highlights….
Tim Vine at the Ipswich Corn Exchange
Sometimes all you need is a barrage of one-liner silliness. You wouldn’t want every comedian to be Tim Vine but you are really pleased that there is at least one! So fast that a dozen jokes can miss the mark and there will still be belly laughs galore in the space of about 60 seconds
League One and Then Where?
Can hardly bring myself to discuss this. Shambolic from the start of the season to the depressingly predictable conclusion.
Med and Adriatic
Not long back from a break around the Med and Adriatic, stating with a couple of days in Rome. Managed to get “inside” a few of the places we have missed on previous visits…
The Chosen Ones
Went to see The Chosen Ones at Colchester Mercury last week not really knowing what to expect. Didn’t know the play and with a cast list of four, ex Corrie, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks actors to the fore, expectations were perhaps unrealistically low….
Oldie But Goodie….
Another trip down memory lane as we went to see Joe Brown at the Ipswich Regent. Just recently, it might seem I’ve been indulging in a little too much nostalgia, but appearances can be deceptive…
Girl Talk
Back to Colchester’s Mercury theatre last week for the new Girl Talk show featuring Barb Jungr, Mari Wilson and Gwyneth Herbert. Bit concerned that this might be one for the fairer sex and the males were certainly the minority of the not quite sold out audience. Needn’t have worried…..
London Break
Just back from three days in London – good theatre, excellent meals and finally got to see Greenwich after promising to go for many a year……and the weather was excellent.
League One Next?
Every time I post about the Blades it appears unremittingly pessimistic. Although this might fit well with the grump persona I appear to be adopting on the blog, I would be delighted to write with optimism about the short to medium term future of the team. But events do seem to be conspiring somewhat against me.
Micky Adams
Probably not a bad idea to pick a man with passion and commitment to replace Speed. After all, he doesn’t have much to work with! But then again, it could be showing a worrying lack of ambition, given the talent available at the moment.
Thumbs Up Bruges, Thumbs Down Eurostar
Lovely long weekend in Bruges with friends, not even spoilt by Eurostar’s atrocious customer service when it all went a bit awry with both the French and Belgian strikes hitting the return journey…
