Just back from a Sunday overnighter, originally booked in 2020 (and again in 2021), both times postponed because of the pandemic. Went to Ickworth House on the Sunday afternoon and took the “green walk” around the estate. Just a leisurely ramble, but it still took just under two hours and was very pleasant – think we were both secretly pleased we achieved it without any serious injuries!
Had a coffee and snack break but had our evening meal at the Dog & Partridge, having first checked in at the Premier Inn. The hotel was / is our go to hotel for gigs at the Apex (and no, we never got to see P.P. Arnold, obviously not meant to be, although that’s why it was originally booked circa two years ago!) The hotel seemed as clean as previously, although it did look a little worse for wear in a couple of areas and only one of us had a decent night’s sleep. Guesses please! Breakfast was excellent and far better than many had in supposedly far superior accommodation. We then went to Abbeygate to see a morning screening of “Good Luck To You, Leo Grande“. I thought it was very well acted and scripted beautifully by Katy Brand, but we both felt the same way – emotionally disconnected from the premise(s). Maybe it’s a film better suited to an evening showing, hard to get intimately involved shortly after consuming cereal, fruit, croissants and a bacon butty 🙂
Only away just over twenty four hours but seemed longer and it’s good to be reminded how lovely Bury St. Edmunds is – a lovely Suffolk market town. Somewhat superior in look, ambience and feel than the county town, it has to be said.

Couldn’t sleep due to being next to the “laundry room” which had machines running all night!!
