And by delayed, I mean by about 20 years, as this is the first time we’ve actually stayed in Cambridge since we came down here from the North East. It can be a bit pricey to book a decent hotel but a Secret Escapes deal got us in to the newly opened Tamburlaine and made it good value for a two night break including what they suprisingly call a continental breakfast.
A two night stay gave us plenty of time to explore the city and, post stroke, we decided to try the more leisurely approach and “hopped on” the hop on hop off bus service, which proved an excellent way to get an overview of the town and university colleges and buildings. Along with a stroll around the botanical gardens (chargeable) and a wander around the ‘old town’, it proved a worthwhile stay and would be well worth repeating should we spot a similar deal. We’d even forfeit the included cream tea, good though it was!
