Just back from three days in London – good theatre, excellent meals and finally got to see Greenwich after promising to go for many a year……and the weather was excellent.
Bit concerned about the booking for “In A Forest Dark And Deep” after seeing one or two iffy reviews but we both thoroughly enjoyed it; well, enjoyed might not be the right word but it was thoroughly involving and worth seeing just for the two excellent performances. And it might only be 100 minutes, but as a two hander, it has to grip you to succeed; exhausting stuff for the actors I guess, who says it’s not demanding work. 🙂
Also went to see “Million Dollar Quartet” – as this is basically an ensemble piece about a very specific night in the Sun Record label history, set entirely in the Sun Studios, the dramatic potential of the evening is somewhat limited. But the performances are excellent and who wouldn’t want to hear the Sun recordings of Elvis, Jerry Lee, Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash. Just a very entertaining night out!
Also managed to get around Greenwich and catch the Observatory, Maritime Museum and Queen’s House. Denise got along to the Fan Museum (only one in the world apparently, can’t think why!). Denise’s weekend complete with a bit of star spotting (Katherine Parkinson at the Fan Museum, Michael Gambon at Million Dollar Quartet and a chat with George Clarke at the Ideal Home).
And excellent meals every day, all with a trial Tastecard giving 50% off food. You can take the boy out of Yorkshire etc. etc.
