Went down to Colchester on Tuesday last to meet up with our ‘China holiday’ friends and discovered we hadn’t met for close on a year, which is the height of tardiness, even for us. Went for lunch but on this occasion we decided to give Carluccio’s a punt as it was inside a well known department store and was only a short walk from the car park (which appears to have increased its prices without any noticeable improvement in its general upkeep).
Carluccio’s proved to be a good choice and it was reassuring to find that those that have stayed open after falling into administration in 2020 are still presenting fine quality fare (well, this one did anyway, to be precise). We had a good old traditional catch up and shared our mutual holiday outings over the last year or so, although it does appear that we have gone down rather divergent paths in our respective choices. I guess old age and a somewhat mixed health outlook can do that to couples….anyway, it all seems a far cry from China, Bruges, York and the rest!!
