Finally got to meet up with our “met in China” friends in Colchester. Had been trying to fit in an overnighter but that proved unworkable so settled for a lunch time meal at the Greyfriars Hotel. It was Valentines Day so thought it might be problematic to book but it proved to be spookily easy. It was then confirmed when we proved to be one of only two tables throughout the whole of service – I know the Valentines is traditionally a date night so I hope they were busy in the evening. Notwithstanding all that, the service, food and location were all excellent and it was lovely to catch up with old friends and have a good old chinwag! Hopefully, there will be a few more.
