Hi #theredandwhiterag
Have you perchance come across the relatively recent last couple of releases from the much undervalued Dion (“Blues with Friends” and “Stomping Ground“). There’s no mention on the site and I for one would argue that both these releases, especially the first, are worthy of coverage in an R&B Primer.
Cheers

Comeback from the comeback – quite like it. Quite apposite as well, since this reply is a little late in its own comeback, so apologies….
As for the question, yes the site (that’s me) is aware. I have in my collection the first of the albums and it’s a very fine CD, if a little lacking in variation. I have yet to catch up with the second album, but am fully prepared to believe both the ‘stellar plaudits‘ and those for whom it is less than stellar – I consider the first to be similarly divisive. I like to think I’m a balanced consumer and can see both sides but if pushed I would definitely put this fan in the former camp – a devotee of both the music and the artist. Dion is possessed of a superb voice and a man with a fascinating and occasionally troubled personal life…..
