We were yet again in Aldeburgh on a two night break but, shock and awe indeed, we stayed not at the Wentworth Hotel but The White Lion. I unilaterally decided to give the White Lion a try, as it was the only one of the big three (Wentworth and Brudenell) that we have never stayed.
Perfectly OK, with lovely staff and excellent breakfasts, coupled with a lovely cream tea on the Thursday afternoon.

Completely different vibe from the Wentworth and we are probably now more inclined towards the latter. The stay was pretty much as before, but the cinema trip to see the very good but not superb “The Duke” was on the Thursday evening and our customary walk was the following day. Hopefully the photo is prima facie evidence that we did actually perambulate, going in the opposite direction and having a cheeky half at the Railway Inn about half way round. All in all, another lovely break but we think the Wentworth from now on!!
Yesterday, another return visit, this time to The Turks Head at Hasketon for lunch. Another two courser, accompanied by Bacchus, a lovely English wine I’ve had only once before. The visit was as fine as before; for me, venison sausages with garlic mash followed by a superb dark chocolate and peanut delice, all washed down with an espresso martini to finish. A truly lovely place to eat delicious food.
