I did see a report from the owner briefing that suggested that CW was demanding £4 million to depart but, as far as I can ascertain, Prince Abdullah certainly denies paying it. Superficially, the statement at least gives some balance to previous briefings and provides for a more complicated picture around departure. I for one am still sad to see Wilder leave and will look to the owner to make a successful managerial appointment as Chris’s replacement. It will be a tough act to follow but it’s probably the most difficult decision the owner will have faced to date. Of course, that’s part of the problem – no idea whether he truly has an involvement in the footballing side of things or if he is simply another who never goes beyond the business transaction and potential beloved of so many other owners.
